Forum for the Republican Candidates for the 5th Congressional District

May 19th, 2008


     ALG will be hosting a candidate forum on May 19th for the candidates running for the Fifth Congressional District seat (Bud Cramer's current position). We have invited all eight candidates: George Barry (R), Cheryl Baswell-Guthrie (R), Parker Griffith (D), Mark Huff (R), David Maker (D), Angelo Mancuso (R), Ray McKee (R), and Wayne Parker (R). George Barry, Cheryl Baswell-Guthrie, and Ray McKee have already confirmed that they will be coming. The forum will be held at 7 pm in the old Athens city council chambers at 203 N. Marion Street. Each candidate will give a short presentation of their platform and then will be asked questions by both the moderator and the audience. Join us for an informative evening and a chance to ask your questions of the candidates running for the 5th District U.S. Congressional seat.


The following candidates have confirmed that they will be coming:

  • George Barry (R)
  • Cheryl Baswell-Guthrie (R)
  • Mark Huff
  • Angelo Mancuso (R)
  • Ray McKee (R)

Directions: Head out Hwy 72 West past I-565 and Hwy 31. After the Hwy 31 interchange, turn north at the second major street. This will be South Jefferson Street. Go north just past Washington and Market Streets. The next street after Market St, turn right onto Hobbs St. The old Athens city council chambers will be next to a fire station and just north (left) of the next intersection, where N Marion St. and Hobbs St. cross.
